Advantages To Owning The Big Brushoff

The Big Brushoff is simpler in design and is built more rugged than any other rotary angle broom on the market. Durability is the end result. The main frame of the Big Brushoff is constructed from 3/16" and 1/4" tubing. To angle the brush, conventional rotary angle brooms utilize a center pin and bushing arrangement (usually 1" or so in diameter). This mechanism appears to be a notable weak spot. The Big Brushoff addresses this weak spot by implementing a turntable device instead. This turntable is comprised of an inner and outer ring approximately 4" high and 18" in diameter. Each ring is 3/8 of an inch thick. The brush cover is another good point of comparison. One competitor uses light gauge formed plastic from which to construct the brush cover of their brush. The Big Brushoff brush cover is made from a single piece of high-density plastic 1/4 inch thick. It is held in place by deep slots, located front and rear, and one single fastener. This allows the cover to contract and expand uniformly and move freely in severe temperature changes that occur when moving the machine from a heated shop to sub zero weather. Most manufacturers use light gauged sheet metal as a cover, which looks nice as long as it stays painted and free of dents. The brushes, motor, and valve of the Big Brushoff are vendor supplied items and can be obtained locally throughout the United States. This differs from other broom builders where these items must be purchased through the manufacturer.

The Big Brushoff operator has more effective control of the broom because he can see the backside of the rotating brush. This feature is not available on any other rotary brooms. Operators of other brooms must either look back behind the skidsteer to see what they have missed, or raise their broom and back up to check for skps. This attribute of the Big Brushoff is a great time saver. If a spot is missed or requires additional attention, the operator of the Big Brushoff sees it immediately and need only back up inches to address the problem.

The Big Brushoff operator can precisely judge how much down force he is applying to the brush because he has an unobstructed view of the rear of the operating broom. This feature helps prevent damage to the bristles of the brush and improves the quality of the performance. The operator of the Big Brushoff can readily change the brush angle by rolling the broom back to a point where he can easily reach the circuit selector valve. By changing the position of this valve, the oil is diverted from the motor to the angle-positioning cylinder. The angle can be changed up to 35 degrees each way from center. The maximum operating angle of most other brooms is 30 degrees.

The Big Brushoff operator can change attachments much quicker than the operators of competitor brooms because there are no electrical connections to make or disconnect. When the Big Brushoff is in its parked position, the brush is automatically elevated off the ground. The operators of the other brooms must dismount and crank down or lower pads that keep the brush elevated; a waste of time but necessary if the bristles of the brush are to be protected. This procedure must be reversed when attaching the broom.

The Big Brushoff can easily sweep vertical surfaces cleanly; again, the reason behind this is because the operator has an unimpaired view of the rotating brush. If you were to try this with conventional brooms, the skidsteer operator would either be crushing the bristles against the vertical surface or missing it all together.

From personal experience, we know that the less difficult a piece of equipment is to use and maintain, the more productive the operator will be and the equipment will last longer. The operator will appreciate these qualities and treat the broom with respect. The Big Brushoff is the only broom built that will stand up to the day after day use and abuse that we come to know as "Construction".
